This guide will go over the following topics:
- 3.1 How to access the Form Editor
- 3.2 Navigating the From Editor
📒 For more information on Forms, see our knowledge base article How to Create and Edit Forms.
1.0 What is reCAPTCHA
reCAPTCHA is a standard form tool to verify if a real person is submitting the Form. reCAPTCHA is used to avoid spammers and bots.
The user confirms by clicking inside the 'I'm not a robot' box. If the reCAPTCHA suspects a spammer/bot is submitting the Form, it will administer a quick and easy image identification task.
2.0 Why add reCAPTCHA
Spammers use bots to scan websites to locate vulnerable Forms and automatically submit data. This data usually is one of the following:
- False Information
- Phishing Scams
- Denial of Services Attacks
Bots are getting more advanced and are capable of creating thousands of false submissions on a single Form.
We highly recommend using reCAPTCHA, as the bots cannot complete the image identification task, stopping them from submitting your Forms.
3.0 Editing a Form
3.1 How to access the Form Editor
- Go to the Forms module.
- Locate the desired Form, at the end of the row, mouse-over the three-dot menu.
- Select the Edit icon.
3.2 Navigating the From Editor
3.2.1 Selected Form Fields
The right panel is the Selected Form Fields. All fields listed here will be accessible in the live Form.
📌 Please note: The position of the fields will be in the same order for the published version.
3.2.2 Form Editor
On the left side of the Form Editor are the available form fields that can be added.
Fields can be added to the Form by dragging them to the Selected Form Fields on the right.
4.0 How to add reCAPTCHA to a Form
The reCAPTCHA field is located at the bottom of the Form Editor. To add reCAPTCHA to the Form, drag and drop the field to the Selected Form Fields section as shown in the image below:
We recommend adding the reCAPTCHA field at the bottom of the Form, as it's a standard for the user experience. Once added, the Form will automatically be saved and applied to your live Form.
📌 Please note: You can rearrange Form fields by dragging and dropping them.
5.0 How to Preview a Form
To Preview a form in the Form Editor, click the PREVIEW button at the bottom of the page.
Clicking the Preview button opens a new page with a full functioning preview of the Form. Entering the fields and submitting the preview Form will work the same way as if embedded on a website.
📌 Please Note: Submissions on the preview Form will be added to your TIEIT account.
