How to Connect Your QuickBooks Online Account

Connecting TIEIT to QuickBooks

Follow these simple steps to integrate QuickBooks with TIEIT:

  1. Log In to Your TIEIT Account.

First, log in to your TIEIT account. Once logged in, go to the user icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  1. Go to Transactions Settings

    Under Company Settings on the left, click Transactions Settings. Then, open the General tab and scroll to the bottom and find the Connect to QuickBooks option.

  2. Click the ACTIVATE button.

  3. Choose your Sync Direction from the dropdown menu:
    1. Disconnected: No sync between TIEIT and QuickBooks. Updates won’t transfer.
    2. Manual Sync: Manually sync invoices, estimates, products and contacts by clicking the QuickBooks icon next to each record.
    3. Sync From TIEIT: Automatically sync new and updated records (Invoices, Estimates, and Contacts) from TIEIT to QuickBooks. Data from QuickBooks will not sync to TIEIT.
    4. Sync From QBO: Automatically sync new and updated records (Contacts, Invoices, and Estimates) from QuickBooks to TIEIT. Data from TIEIT will not sync to QuickBooks.
    5. Sync From Both: A bidirectional sync. Updates in either system will sync to the other.
  4. Click the Connect to QuickBooks button to authorize QuickBooks using secure token-based authentication.

Once connected, your sync settings will take effect, but syncing won’t start until the connection is established.

If you need different sync settings later, you can always update them from the same settings page.


If the Sync only the contacts related to Invoices and Estimates toggle is ON, only contacts linked to invoices and estimates will sync between TIEIT and QuickBooks. This helps keep your contact list clean and relevant to financial records.

QuickBooks Customer Record Creation Policy

If the QuickBooks Customer Record Creation Policy toggle is ON, TIEIT will create a new customer record in QuickBooks for each unique invoice contact. If the toggle is OFF, invoices will be associated with an existing company record in QuickBooks, using company-wide details instead of individual contact information.

Invoice Contact Association Preference

This setting determines how invoices are handled when the customer's email address is missing in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Choose from the following options:

  • Associate with Billing or Primary Contact: If an email is missing in QBO, the invoice syncs with the company's primary contact in TIEIT, defaulting to the billing contact.
  • Associate with Primary or Billing Contact: If an email is missing in QBO, the invoice syncs with the company's billing contact in TIEIT, defaulting to the primary contact if the billing contact is unavailable.
  • Associate with Billing Contact: Syncs the invoice to the company's billing contact in TIEIT when the customer record does not have an email in QBO.
  • Do not Sync: If the customer record in QBO lacks an email address, the invoice will not sync.

Note: Invoices linked to companies without a primary or billing contact in TIEIT will not sync. Ensure these contacts are updated to avoid issues.

TIEIT to QuickBooks Company Matching Priorities

Choose how to match your TIEIT Company Name with QuickBooks when syncing:

  1. Prioritize Matching by QB Display Name: Matches records using the customer display name in QuickBooks. This is useful when the display name is more distinct or relevant.
  2. Prioritize Matching by QB Company Name: Matches records based on the company name field in QuickBooks. If multiple matches exist, the display name will be used to find the correct record.

This ensures your records align correctly between TIEIT and QuickBooks for seamless syncing.

How to Revoke QuickBooks Access

If you need to disconnect QuickBooks from TIEIT, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings page.
  2. Under Company Settings, select Transaction Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Connected to QuickBooks section.
  4. Click the Revoke Access link below the button.


This will immediately disconnect your QuickBooks account from TIEIT.

Heads Up! Revoking access will stop all syncs between TIEIT and QuickBooks.

Setting Up Discount Account Mapping

To ensure invoice discounts are properly recorded in QuickBooks, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings page.
  2. Under Company Settings, select Transaction Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Connect to QuickBooks.
  4. Locate the DISCOUNT ACCOUNT MAPPING dropdown.
  5. Select the QuickBooks account where invoice discounts should be recorded.

Reminder: This setting ensures discounts on invoices are mapped correctly in QuickBooks for accurate financial reporting.
