Adding Repeating Fields to Your Forms

Overview

The new Repeating Fields feature in our form builder empowers you to create dynamic and flexible forms tailored to your specific needs. Whether you're organizing an event, conducting a survey, or managing registrations, repeating fields allow you to capture multiple entries for the same information without the hassle of manually duplicating fields. This feature streamlines data collection, enhances user experience, and adds versatility to your forms. Embrace the power of customization and make your forms more efficient and user-friendly!

Instructions

Follow these steps to add repeating fields to your form:

  1. Navigate to the TIEIT Form Builder
    • Log in to your account and select the form you want to edit or create a new form.

  1. Add a Repeating Field Section
    • In the left-hand panel, navigate to the field categories. These include options like Contact Fields, Company Fields, Custom Fields, etc.
    • Click on the Advanced Fields section and drag the Repeating Field Set field to the form canvas.

Customize the Repeating Field Set

    • Once the repeating field set is placed on the form, hover over it to reveal the edit icon (a pencil).
    • Click the edit icon to open the customization menu.
    • Customization Options:
      • The customization menu allows you to set labels and limits:
        • Label: The main label for the repeating section, such as "Guest Information."
        • Item Label: The label for individual items within the set, such as "Guest."
        • Minimum and Maximum Items: Specify how many times users can repeat the fields.
        • Add/Remove Button Text: Customize the text for buttons users will click to add or remove items.
        • Create Contact: Enable this if you want each new item to create a new contact in TIEIT — each repeating item will need a unique email address.

The following screenshot demonstrates how these settings map onto a form:

  1. Label (1): Maps to the section title on the form.
  2. Item Label (2): Appears as the heading name for each repeated entry. This will add a number and increase by one after each Item Label that you enter.
  3. Add Button Text (3): Indicate the button text that you wish to use to add additional entries.
  4. Remove Button Text (4): Indicate the button text that you wish to use to remove additional entries.

These settings provide flexibility and control over how users can input repeated data, ensuring the form functions as intended.

  1. Add Fields to Repeating Set
    • Within the repeating field set on the form canvas, click the "+ Add Another Item" button. This action opens a panel where you can select the fields to include in the repeating section.
    • Select one or more fields from your existing set of standard and custom fields. These fields will be repeated for each new entry the user adds.

  1. Preview
    • Once you're satisfied with the setup, preview your form to ensure everything looks perfect.
    • All changes you make on the form canvas are automatically saved.
  2. Test the Form:
    • Test the form to see how the repeating fields function. Make adjustments if necessary.
